AUSTIN– Governor Abbott allowed counties to require masks today after Bexar county Judge put an order in place. The following can be attributed to Bay Scoggin, TexPIRG Director.

“Wearing masks is the best thing we can do to mitigate the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s also the best way we can reopen our economy safely, so it’s great to see the leadership from Judge Wolff bear fruit for more than just San Antonio.”

“TexPIRG urges other counties to follow suit and require masks, and we thank the Governor for allowing such a simple, common sense solution. We also want to ask the public to wear masks even if there isn’t a standing order in your area. Remember: wearing a mask is about protecting others in your community, and if we can all make this small sacrifice, we’ll be far better prepared to return to full economic activity safely.”
